Watch as hilarious new jump-o-meter gadget reveals bouncing babies’ favourite festive song

The world’s first ‘jump-o-meter’ device has revealed the top 10 tot tunes for Christmas – as voted for by bouncing babbies.

Specialist toddler food firm Ella’s Kitchen came up with the idea for the innovative gadget.Working with a team of scientists from the Thrill Laboratory, experts in experimentation, the new study provides a unique insight into babies’ behavioural reactions when they hear different festive jingles.

A panel of little ones – ‘Ella’s Christmas Jumpers’ – were employed to put the jump-o-meter to the test.

The hilarious experiment shows that Jingle Bells causes the most excitement in babies with Santa Claus is Coming to Town and We Wish You A Merry Christmas coming in second and third respectively.

Brendan Walker, of Thrill Laboratory, said: “When babies become excited in response to a song, their bodies and minds get ready for action: their hearts beat faster, their eyes open wide, and their breathing quickens.

“One behavioural effect of excitement and sensorial engagement that parents can see is when little ones bounce, which our jump-o-meter closely monitored.

“An increase in bouncing, coupled with positive facial expressions, showed just how excited our babies were when they heard different Christmas tunes.”

Ella’s Kitchen produced the hilarious festive film showing the babies’ reaction to festive music to help promote their partnership with Save the Children and Christmas Jumper Day 2017 which is being held on Friday.

“We wanted to make an occasion of little ones who are experiencing the joys of Christmas songs for the very first time!

“We’ve given Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day a bit of a twist with Ella’s Christmas Jumpers, which not only raises awareness of our charity partnership in a fun way, but also puts kids at the heart of the campaign.

“We hope it raises a smile with mums and dads and puts a spring in every little one’s step.”
