Kevin Hart partners with briefs brand after social media posts

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart has turned a “briefs” love affair into a business partnership.

The 37-year-old funnyman — who starred on social media three years ago dancing in his Tommy John underwear — on Thursday announced he has invested in the company.

“Instead of being a paid endorser, he paid us to become a partner,” Tommy John founder Tom Patterson told The Post.

After an employee spied Hart in his Tommy Johns on Instagram, he told Patterson — who quickly sent the actor and comic a few complimentary pairs.

Patterson, who heads the privately held company, didn’t give the exchange another thought — even after Hart appeared again and again in the briefs on social media — until the actor called in January.

“I was leery of working with a celebrity,” said Patterson, 37, who projects the earnestness of his South Dakota roots. “But after a few meetings, I thought I’d be crazy not to work with Kevin.”

While the partnership was announced on Thursday, it has been an open Internet secret since the deal was signed on Aug. 31.

“We got a half-million visits to our Web site in the first 24 hours,” Patterson said, as fans obviously followed Hart from social media to the company’s home page.

Plans include a “Kevin Hart by Tommy John” line next year.

“He’s providing the most authentic endorsements you can get in the social-media age,” Patterson said.
